Stay in Touch

Cheerful and encouraging correspondence can help your child enjoy camp more. Consider sending something early so your child will receive a fun message from home on the first day of camp. Campers receive mail after lunch each day.

Telephone

Personal calls to campers are discouraged. History shows that calls often create homesickness and disrupt camper’s schedule of activities. In case of emergency, a message can be delivered to your child’s counselor and, if necessary, camper will return call. Parents are always welcome to contact the Registrar or Directors with questions or feedback at 800-775-YSSC.

Care Packages

While campers greatly enjoy receiving a care package at camp, we only allow families to mail 1 package per camper each session. Anymore than 1 package will be thrown away. We request that you DO NOT send candy or food, as well as distractions such as magazines, water balloons, and super soakers. As a rule, campers open packages in the presence of YSSC staff, and food items are confiscated in order to protect campers with food allergies and to keep cabins safe from scavenging wildlife. Other care package items to consider: books, hats, photos, bandanas, chapstick, room decorations, party favors to share with cabin, stuffed animals, inflatable pool toys, small games...be creative.
